12 year old killed in Clinton County car crash

WILMINGTON, OH (FOX19) - A three vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 12-year-old Leesburg boy this morning is under investigation by the Ohio State Patrol.

Clayton McKibben was a front seat passenger in a vehicle driven by 70 year-old Joyce McKibben of New Vienna when police say she failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by another car.  The accident occurred on State Route 350 and Farmers Road in Clinton County.

Joyce McKibben was transported to Miami Valley Hospital from the scene via Care Flight.  Clayton McKibben was transported to Clinton Memorial Hospital by Wilmington Life Squad.  He was pronounced dead after his arrival to the hospital.

The 2010 Chrysler Town & Country which was struck by McKibben's car  traveled south of the intersection onto Farmers Road and struck a 2000 Toyota Solara.  Ricky Merrell, driver of the Town & Country, was transported to the Clinton Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.  The driver of the Solara, James Geisler, was not injured in the crash.
