OWENSVILLE (FOX19) – Army Spc. Joseph Bauer from Clermont County has been laid to rest.

He was killed while on duty as a mine sweeper in Afghanistan. Bauer, 27, died on July 24.

Hundreds of community members lined the procession route on Tuesday in Owensville to honor the fallen hero.

"The community support...that these men and women get from Clermont County, there are no words for it," said Bill Erdy, a Clermont County resident.

Twelve servicemen from Clermont County have died fighting in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

"My daughter just turned 14 and she peacefully sleeps every night because of military men and women like Spc. Joseph Bauer," said Marium Newhouse, a Clermont County resident.

Tuesday's mass and burial at Saint Louis Church and Cemetery were private.
