CINCINNATI (FOX19) - I-71 is shutdown in both directions right now after a double fatality accident in the northbound lanes in Boone County.
The accident involved three vehicles - two tractor trailers and a passenger car. The two occupants of the car died on impact.
According to the Boone County Sheriff's Office the car was northbound when the driver lost control, slid through the median, and collided with a southbound semi hauling masonite.
The impact drove the car back into the median. The semi jack-knifed taking out guardrail. Another semi hauling molasses was unable to stop in enough time and collided in the rear of the first one.
A short time after 9:00pm, the highway has been reopened.
The two people who died in the accident has been identified as two 53-year-old women from Ohio.
