Memorial established to classmates of The Who tragedy

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - On Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 8:00 PM the public is invited as a memorial bench will be unveiled as a marker to Jacqueline L. Eckerle (age 15), Karen L. Morrison (age 15) and Stephen M. Preston (age 19) who tragically lost their lives on the night of December 3, 1979 while waiting to enter the Riverfront Coliseum to see The Who.  In all, there were eight injured and eleven dead - three were Finneytown High School students.

Classmates are determined to preserve the memories of what happened on that night and the friendship of their classmates.  The event will be held at the Finneytown Secondary Campus at 8916 Fontainebleau Terrace.

In addition to the memorial bench a scholarship will be established.  The P.E.M. Memorial Scholarship is being seeded with money from the alumni who knew the three during their years at Finneytown.  Checks may be made to the P.E.M. through the Finneytown Schools Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 317647, Cincinnati, OH 45231.
