Man accused of backing over toddler

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A man is behind bars after he backed over a toddler.

It happened Thursday evening in the 10000 block of Arborwood Drive.

Police say Manuel Seruim-Aguilar, 39, of Cincinnati, was attempted to back his Honda Civic from a marked parking space and failed to see a 2-year-old boy, striking him.

When Serium-Aguilar realized he struck the toddler, he pulled forward and entered a residence on the street.

The Fire Department was called and transported the boy, identified as Jayden Jeanty, to Children's Hospital, where he is said to be suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

Seruim Aguilar was taken into custody and charged with improper backing, no drivers license and leaving the scene of an auto accident.

Police say alcohol and/or drugs are not considered factors in the accident, and Jeanty was not under adult supervision when it happened.

The accident remains under investigation.
