ELMWOOD PLACE, OH (FOX19) -- Two people were taken to the hospital after a fire that occurred Sunday afternoon.
Fire crews were called to the 400 block of Linden Avenue after they received a call regarding a house fire.
Witnesses say that the homeowner had left the home to visit someone around the corner when a neighbor spotted the fire. The neighbor went into the house to yell for the homeowner, but she was not there. He was not hurt.
One firefighter and one resident were taken to the hospital for possible heat exhaustion. Two other firefighters were treated on the scene because of the heat.
Fire crews say that the weather made it hard to fight the fire because the wind helped blow the flames to neighboring house. One of the homes had melted siding and another home had a small hole burned into it, but damage was minor.
There were also three oxygen cylinders in the home cause making difficult for firefighters.
The home is a total loss.
