CINCINNATI (AP) - Jury selection's under way in the trial of University of Mississippi basketball coach Andy Kennedy, who filed a defamation lawsuit against a cab driver and a valet.
Kennedy filed the suit in Cincinnati after he was arrested in 2008 over an altercation with the cabbie.
He denied punching and taunting the driver but pleaded guilty last year to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct. Kennedy was sentenced to probation and community service.
During the criminal case, Kennedy apologized to the cab driver and the valet, who had come forward as witnesses. But the coach did not drop his civil lawsuit against them. They have countersued.
Kennedy has been Ole Miss coach since March 2006, leading the Rebels to postseason play three times.
