WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - In a special session with the Lakota School Board on Monday, Lakota Schools discussed nearly $12 million in budget cuts.
There are about seven areas of potential cuts being discussed but here are some of the most alarming:
- Moving to a six day period at the high school which would decrease instructional time
- Eliminate 130 additional teachers and staff
- Eliminating all high school busing as well as eliminating busing for K-8 outside of a 2 mile radius
A letter has gone out to parents and teachers about the proposed cuts. Superintendent Mike Allen says although they're difficult to stomach, particularly the busing, it's the reality they're facing.
