OVER THE RHINE, OH (FOX19) - Work gets started Tuesday on the nearly $50 million renovation project at Washington Park.
The first stages start in the area where the pool and playground are located. Among the biggest change is the addition of a $21.6 million underground parking garage with 500 spaces.
The historic bandstand will also be renovated, and a dog park will be added to the area.
Around $26 million of the cost is coming from private funds. About $21 million is coming from public loans and grants, including $14 million from the city of Cincinnati.
Cincinnati city council approved the park renovations in June.
