VERSAILLES, IN (FOX 19) - A two day special patrol on I-74 has netted numerous arrests.  Troopers from the Versailles District conducted a special patrol on I-74 primarily in Ripley County that resulted in 40 criminal charges, with 19 being felonies, and a total of 16 individuals charged with various crimes, mostly drug related.

The patrols were conducted over three hour periods both afternoons which included eight troopers, three of which had K-9 partners.  Troopers patrolled I-74 and made traffic stops for various traffic violations which, through the use of drug sniffing K-9's, led to the discovery of drugs.

Included was a traffic stop which led to the discovery of over one pound of marijuana, which due to its high quality had an estimated value of $2500-3000.  Also discovered during another stop were 250 ecstasy pills, cocaine, marijuana, LSD, numerous prescription pills, and paraphernalia.

Although not directly involved with the special patrol, the Ripley County Sheriff's Department and Batesville Police provided valuable assistance by providing transportation of the arrested individuals to jail so troopers could remain on I-74 to continue the saturation patrol.
