HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - A Butler County teenager is convicted on adult charges of raping and robbing his neighbor in January.

"Part of our job in enforcing the law is to protect society and future victims from individuals like this," said Butler County Prosecutor Robin Piper.

Alexis Ramirez, 15, broke down, cried and could barely remain standing at the podium as prosecutors read the statement of facts that night the teen robbed and raped his 64-year-old neighbor in her mobile home. He shook his head, saying, "no I didn't" and buried his head in his hands before having to sit down.

"He obviously showed the emotion of listening to what he did, I can't stress enough he's 15 years old," said defense attorney David Brewer.

Judge Keith Spaeth found Ramirez guilty on all charges, after the Monroe High School student pleaded no contest. Ramirez is facing up to 83 years in prison on charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, felonious assault; two counts of kidnapping, three counts of rape and tampering with evidence.

"I don't take glee in the fact that this individual is going to go to prison for a long time, he's only 14 year old, but his crimes are heinous , his conduct is intolerable," Piper said.

He originally pled not guilty by reason of insanity, but Judge Spaeth ruled him competent to stand trial. Both the defendant's family and the victim's family were too upset to go on camera, prosecutors say a plea bargain was not an option in such a brutal crime.

"A normal 14 year old doesn't even begin to think, of committing rapes in the way with the type of violence in brutality that he did," Piper said. "Strong case and a horrendous crime, you can't reduce charges in a case like this.

Ramirez, who was 14 at the time, raped his 64-year-old neighbor in her Liberty Township home in January. He then forced her to drive him to an ATM and stole her purse.

Sentencing was set for October, Ramirez is the youngest defendant to be charged in adult court in the county; the teen is not a U.S. citizen and also faces deportation back to his home country of Mexico once his sentence is complete.
