Attempted stunt leads to deadly accident in on I-275

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -- The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating an accident that killed a man after he was attempting a stunt while riding on the highway early Sunday morning.

A short time after 2:00am, 22- year- old Courtney Groeshen was driving her vehicle west on Interstate 275 around the 70.7 mile marker. Her front passenger, 29-year-old Joseph Needels began to climb out of the passenger window and onto the top of the car.

Groshen began to travel over rough pavement and Needels was unable to hold on. He fell to the pavement and was struck by a semi tractor trailer driven by 31-year-old Theodore Hooks II and another vehicle driven by 18-year-old Adrienne Williams.

Anderson Township Fire and Medical crews responded to the scene, but Needels was pronounced dead at the scene.The driver of the semi truck,Theodore Hooks II, was transported to Anderson Mercy Hospital where he was treated and released. Neither Courtney Groshen and the other driver, Adrienne Williams were injured in the crash.

Alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be factors in the crash.

I-275 was shut down for over five hours.

Officials say that there are reports that a white pickup truck may have also hit Joseph Needels, but left the scene.
