Tiger Woods officially divorced

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) - Tiger Woods and his now ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, say they are sad that their marriage is over and that they "wish each other the very best for the future."

The statement, released by their lawyers, comes with the official word that they have divorced, some nine months after the revelations about his infidelity. The terms of the divorce weren't released -- except that they will "share parenting" of their 3-year-old daughter and 19-month-old son.

The divorce was granted in Panama City, Fla. According to an assistant to the judge, it was finalized during a brief hearing attended by Woods and Nordegren with their lawyers.

In their statement, Woods and Nordegren say, "While we are no longer married, we are the parents of two wonderful children." And they say that the children's happiness is "of paramount importance."

Woods is to play this week at The Barclays. He needs a good performance to extend his PGA Tour season and try to show he is worth picking for the Ryder Cup.
