Reds beaten by the bay

SAN FRANCISCO (FOX19) - The Reds West Coast road trip rolled into San Francisco late Monday night, and it didn't go very well.

Edinson Volquez had his second straight bad start, allowing five hits and five runs in less than an inning.

Giants pitcher Matt Cain was better. The only runs he allowed came in on Scott Rolen's triple.

Final score of this one, 11-2, and to make matters worse Laynce Nix and Jim Edmonds had to leave the game with injuries. We should know more about their status later today.

The Cardinals beat the Pirates so that means the Reds have a two and a half game lead in the National League Central division.
