ISP investigating theft of highway signs

RIPLEY COUNTY, IN (FOX19) - Indiana State Police are looking for a person or persons who stole numerous highway signs.

Police say during the weekend of August 14-15, a total of 24 signs were stolen from the area around the intersection of S.R. 229 and S.R. 48.

Included were 17 signs belonging to the Indiana Department of Transportation and included speed limit signs, arrow signs, detour signs, signs indicating upcoming county road intersections, and a green "Batesville" sign.  Also stolen were two county road signs belonging to the Ripley County Highway Department, and five construction signs consisting of "road closed" signs, detour, etc.  Those signs are the property of Road Safe Traffic Systems.
