DAYTON, OH (FOX19) - The mother of a Mason teenager who survived a horrific crash earlier this week says the fact that her son is alive is a miracle.

The accident, which was caught on cruiser camera, shows Brennan Eden's Pontiac Firebird sailing through the air and striking an overpass, then shattering into pieces. It happened Monday morning on Interstate 675 near Dayton.

"From what police and doctors have told us, we really feel like it's a miracle that Brennan's alive," said his mother, Andrea Eden-Shingleton.

Eden-Shingleton said her son's condition has been upgraded from critical to serious.

"The sincere love and prayer of family and friends is what is sustaining us, and we thank them," said Eden-Shingleton.

Eden, 19, had been arrested an hour before the accident for Prohibition, Drug Paraphernalia, and Drug Abuse after he was found in his vehicle with a juvenile female in a parking lot.

He was cited and released after police determined he was not under the influence.
