AAA Expects More People To Travel Labor Day Weekend

CINCINNATI, OH(FOX19) - AAA projects that 34.4 million people will travel 50 miles or more this Labor Day weekend. This is an increase of about 10 percent compared to 2009.

"Travelers are eager to hit the road one final time to celebrate the end of summer," said Elaine Zeinner, AAA spokesperson. "AAA travel agents are busy looking for great travel deals and planning trips for those gearing up to enjoy Labor Day weekend away from home."

AAA expects gas prices to be between $2.65 and $2.75. Airfare is expected to increase 9 percent with the lowest round-trip airfare averaging $179 and hotel rates are expected to increase 6 percent.

People will travel to northern destinations to escape the summer heat.
