Police ID victim of crash involving Rumpke truck

ALEXANDRIA, KY (FOX19) – Police have identified the victim of a fatal crash involving a Rumpke truck.

The crash occurred early Saturday morning in the northbound lane of U.S. 27 in front of the Village Green Shopping Center.

Police say Mark Foster, 40, of Fort Thomas, had just left his job at Sara Lee and was stopped at a traffic light at Viewpoint Drive and the entrance of the Village Green Shopping Center. A Rumpke Transportation tractor trailer was headed northbound in the same lane. As the truck approached, the driver, Duane Yates, 57, of Georgetown, Ohio, told police he just looked up and "there the car was."

Foster was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary indications show, with the lack of any pre-impact skid marks, it is suspected Yates may have momentarily dozed off just prior to the collision.

At this time, no charges are being sought. However, the Campbell County Major Accident Reconstruction Team (MART) is still concluding their investigation.
