The Bob Jacoby era at Hamilton High School got off to a good start as the Big Blue held on to beat a very good Springfield Wildcats squad, 14-6.
Hamilton (1-0) did all of their damage on the ground with all of their 269 yards of offense coming running the football. Senior Devin Jarrett led all runners with 177 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries. Classmate Brian Cleckley chipped with 74 rushing yards of his own.
Springfield (0-1) had its chances, but in the end came up short. Quarterback Chris Wallace completed 11-of-22 passes for 189 yards, but his two interceptions prove to be the difference.
The Big Blue is set to tangle with Moeller next week on the road and the Wildcats stay on the road with a trip to Upper Arlington.
