After a 0-0 deadlock at halftime, the Anderson Redskins found a way to score two second-half touchdowns to defeat the Oak Hills Highlanders 14-7 in the Skyline Crosstown Showdown at Nippert Stadium on Friday night. It was the 15th consecutive regular season win for the Redskins dating all the way back to September 26th, 2008.
Quarterback Nick Mason found Jordan Shelton down the middle of the field on the games prettiest play as Anderson went on top 7-0. Oak Hills would turn right around and answer the call on a two-yard plunge by senior tailback Tommy Konkoly. It would be the only score the Highlanders could muster.
Sloppy play would eventually be the down fall of Oak Hills as they were penalized for 120 yards in the contest.
Redskins' tailback Jake Nelson would get the game-winning score on a two yard run as Anderson came back from a 7-6 deficit to regain the lead for good. Defensive back Ronzell Foster had a late game interception that would seal the fate of the Highlanders and preserve the "W" for his ballclub.
Up next for Anderson is Woodward (0-1) at Brown Stadium. Oak Hills will face Harrison out west and Wildcat Stadium.
