OSGOOD, IN (FOX19) - Sixteen people, including fourteen students, were taken to the hospital after a dump truck and school bus collided in Ripley County.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. Monday morning on SR 129 near County Road 400 North, about 15 miles south of Batesville.
The bus was carrying students from the Jac-Cen-Del school district. Indiana State Police troopers say ten students and the drivers of the bus and dump truck were taken from the scene to Margaret Mary Community Hospital. Four other students were also later taken to the hospital by private vehicles for treatment. Most student injuries were complaints of pain, however there were a couple of students that required stitches for minor lacerations. The students ranged in age from 6 years old to 16 years old.
Troopers say the driver of the bus, Dorothy J. Huskey, 60, of Osgood, failed to yield from 400 North onto SR 129, causing the driver of the dump truck, Matthew McQueen, 28, of West Harrison, to T-bone the bus and send it spinning 180 degrees into a front yard. The dump truck came to rest in a ditch on the west side of SR 129.
The crash remains under investigation.
