BURLINGTON, KY (FOX19) - Two Boone County men have been arrested for stealing sewer grates to sell them for scrap.

Police began investigating the case on August 27 after taking a theft report from the Boone County Public Works Department. The deputy received a vague description of the pick up truck involved and later spotted the truck in Hebron stealing a grate. He put out an attempt to locate and another deputy spotted it at the Wendy's in Burlington later on Friday.

Brandon Price, 28 and Edward Jones, 22 both of the 6400 block of Rosetta Drive in Burlington, were charged with Theft by unlawful taking. They admitted to stealing the grates and told deputies they sold them for scrap at Walton Recycling in Walton, Kentucky and E Town Recycling in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Deputies have accounted for 35 stolen grates valued at over $5,000. The investigation is continuing.
