North College Hill rape suspect caught in West Virginia

NORTH COLLEGE HILL, OH (FOX19) - A rape suspect from Hamilton County has been arrested in West Virginia by the U.S. Marshals.

Jonothan Mapp Jr., 21, was indicted for allegedly raping a 5-year-old child over a 6-year period between 2001 and 2007. Mapp is facing life in prison if convicted of these charges.

On Monday, the U.S. Marshals-led Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) developed information that Mapp was hiding out in the New Martinsville, WV area. He was by officers located at an apartment, hiding in a back bedroom. He was taken into custody without incident.

Mapp is being held at the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville, WV, awaiting extradition back to Hamilton County.
