West Chester seeks park watch volunteers

By Chris Tevis - Email

Residents of West Chester enjoy several beautiful park facilities and are now being recruited to serve as the extra eyes and ears of the Police and Community Services departments to ensure that they remain assets for all to enjoy.

The Park Watch program in West Chester is operated much like a Block or Neighborhood Watch. All residents are encouraged to be alert to issues in the parks and report them. Additional volunteers interested in taking a more active role will receive training to be part of a more structured Park Watch.

Those interested in participating in the Park Watch program must complete an application which is available at www.WestChesterOH.org or at the West Chester Police Department, 9577 Beckett Road. These registered volunteers will receive training once each year and will receive email notices of activities or issues in the parks.

Park Watch volunteers will not generally be assigned shifts, but will be asked to be aware of issues while visiting the parks.

Signs are now posted in West Chester parks with phone numbers to call if suspicious activity or damages to the park are observed by anyone using the parks.
