CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Reds broadcaster Marty Brennaman is disappointed in the recent attendance at Great American Ball Park and says he just doesn't have an answer why.
The question is the low attendance for the first place Cincinnati Reds.
Its been years since the Reds were sitting this pretty in the standings, but Monday night's game against the Brewers had fewer than 15,000 fans in attendance.
"I don't think anybody has any idea why its been bad," said Brennaman. "I was really disappointed in the crowd they had for the Milwaukee series."
Great American Ball Park has over 42,000 seats. The Reds are 20th out of 30 teams for attendance, averaging 25,000 fans a game. The second place Cardinals are 4th out of 30, averaging almost 41,000 fans a game.
"They go to the ballpark on any given night expecting that they're going to win and they've done it over a period of years," said Brennaman. "If that's what it takes here, so be it."
Still, 20th is better than 27th, where the Reds were in mid-July.
