Police need help identifying person of interest in fatal home invasion

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Fairfield Township Police are asking the public's help in identifying a person of interest who may be involved in a fatal home invasion.

Joseph Patterson II was killed August 25 at his townhome in the 3000 block of Bentbranch Lane. Police believe Patterson was followed and targeted by the suspects and the home invasion/murder was not a random act. Patterson's wife and children, who were home at the time of the murder, were not injured.

Fairfield Township investigators say Patterson was at the Value Place extended stay hotel on Fairfield Business Drive just hours before he was shot in his home. Surveillance video captured a person who came into the hotel around the same time, and police are now trying to locate him to see if he has any information that could be helpful in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fairfield Township Police Department Investigations Section at (513) 785-1461, or Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
