Celebration of Catfish Collins at Madison Theater

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A celebration of the life of Catfish Collins will be held Saturday, September 4 at Madison Theater in Covington. The concert is being organized by the Bootsy Collins Foundation. Doors open at 7:00p.m. and the show starts at 8.

Special guests include: Ray "Ghostbusters" Parker Jr., The Deele, Reggie Calloway founder of Midnight Star, Freekbass, Wilburt Longmire, The James Brown Tribute Band, Steve Jordan Drummer, and Brian Hardgroove, Bassist for Public Enemy.

This show is free and open to everyone. A"Catfish musicians fund" has been set up to help unfortunate musicians that fall on bad times and can not afford their own burial. So we are asking the ones that can to donate to this cause. You can email  bootsycf7@gmail.com for more details.

Phelps "Catfish" Collins passed away August 6 after battling cancer. He was 66.

Catfish Collins and his younger brother Bootsy was considered one of the architects of funk, along with James Brown. He was the guitarist on Parliament-Funkadelic classics like "Flashlight", and James Brown's "Sex Machine," and recently reteamed with Bootsy to perform on the soundtrack for the movie Superbad.
