WAYNE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A Wayne Township barn and over 300 acres were destroyed by a wild fire Monday afternoon.

A wild fire broke out around 4:15 p.m. in the 4000 block of Withrow Road and spread to the barn, which is a total loss.

The smoke could be seen for miles and additional water tankers were called in from nearby fire departments to help fight the fire.

"With all the wind and all the dry grass, it's very, very hard to contain. It took them a good while to get it contained," said Doug Hoit, Wayne Township Fire Chief.
