CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The sixth Annual Lantern Lighting Event will take place Saturday, September 11 at the Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum at 8 pm. The Hamilton County Police Honor Guard will present colors including two special 911 flags with the names of everyone who was lost during the event of 911. The Emerald Society of Cincinnati Police and Fire Pipes and Drums will sing.
Guests are invited to decorate a lantern in memory of those who have passed and at dusk the lanterns (illuminated by small candles) are set on Willow Water Lake. All lanterns, shades and decorating supplies are provided by the cemetery. A color copier is also available to make a copy of a favorite photo to personalize the lantern. This event is free and open to the public with a $5.00 suggested donation lantern shades.
A multi-cultural entertainment, prior to the salute, with the McGing, Irish Dancers, Blarnacles, Sugarfoot Cloggers, Son del Caribe and Amazing Portable Circus.
The entertainment will begin at 6:00pm and the lantern launch will be approximately 8:30pm. Guests are welcome to arrive at 5:00pm and asked to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
