COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - DNA gathered from a crime eight years ago is the reason that Anthony Jackson, 47,  is now charged with rape and robbery.

Covington Police arrested the Park Hills man after the DNA sample from a rape kit matched another sample from Jackson after his arrest on drug charges.

Police say that Jackson attacked a teenager in 2002 on Madison Avenue near Holmes High School.  The victim wasn't able to get a good description of her attacker.  However, a DNA sample was gathered at the hospital.

A 2009 law requiring all convicted felons to submit DNA samples is the reason Jackson submitted the DNA after his drug arrest.

Jackson is currently in the Kenton County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
