Human remains removed from Washington Park, part of renovations

OVER THE RHINE (FOX19) - The renovation at Washington Park renovation began the sensitive work of uncovering human remains Monday.

Washington Park used to house an Episcopal and a Presbyterian cemetery before it was acquired by the City of Cincinnati in 1855.

The remains will be moved and reburied at Spring Grove Cemetery.

Washington Park is being renovated and expanded from six to eight acres through a private public partnership between the Cincinnati Park Board and the Cincinnati Center City Development Corp (3CDC).

The total cost of the project is $47.3 million. The project began on August 17 and it is expected to be completed in 2011.
