ZINZINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Greta, a nine-year old dachshund, beat 80 other dachshunds to be crowned the winning wiener at the fourth-annual Queen City Sausage Running of the Wieners.  She ran the 100-foot race in 3.48 seconds.

The event is an annual kickoff to Oktoberfest-Zinzinnati, the largest Oktoberfest celebration in the country and the second largest in the world.

Greta, from Green Township, receives a two-night stay at Cincy Dog Depot, a doggie prize pack and a case of Samuel Adams Beer (for the owner, of course).

This is the third time Greta has participated in the event, but the first time to win, said owner Laurie DeWine.

For the race, the dachshunds, the official mascot of Oktoberfest-Zinzinnati, are provided competition "race gear" hot dog bun costumes and race across Fountain Square to waiting owners. The winner of each of the eight heats advanced to the finals to set up Greta's victorious race.
