FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A gas line leak that had forced several homes to be evacuated in Fairfield Township Friday has been contained.
It happened around 2 p.m. in the 5400 block of Headgates Road.
Dispatchers say contractors were working to repair a water line when they accidentally struck a gas line.
About 10 to 15 homes were evacuated as a precaution, and about 400 other homes received a warning phone call from Butler County Emergency Management Agency. Those people are now back in their houses.
EMA officials say residents located in the 2800 block of Canal Road, Redbird Lane, Gateway Drive, Blue Heron Drive, Parkside Court and 5400 block of Headgates Road should Shelter-in-Place until further notice.
Residents may notice an odor, but there is no immediate danger and emergency crews are on the scene.
No injuries have been reported.
