Murder charge expected in Mich. serial stabbings

FLINT, Mich. (AP) - A prosecutor in Flint says he's filing more charges against the man suspected in a series of stabbings in Michigan and two other states.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton won't comment until a news conference Monday. But defense lawyer Brian Morley says he's expecting at least one murder charge against Elias Abuelazam (eh-lee-AHS' A'-boo-LAH'-zuhm).

Five men in the Flint area were killed and nine others were injured in a series of stabbings between spring and early August. So far, Abuelazam is charged in just one case, the attempted murder of a 26-year-old man.

He was arrested last month while trying to travel to Israel, his native country. Abuelazam also is a suspect in two stabbings and a hammer attack in Virginia and a stabbing in Ohio.
