ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE/FOX19) - Kentucky State Police are looking for a person of interest in a double homicide who has ties in the Tri-State.

Police in Hardin County discovered a couple in their 60's dead inside their Elizabethtown home just before 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The victims' son, who is in his 40's and lived in the home, has not been found. KSP says he has a sibling at Northern Kentucky University, which is why they think he could be headed to the Tri-State. He hasn't been seen since his parents' bodies were found.

The couple's car is also missing. Troopers are looking for a gold 2003 4-door Honda Accord with Kentucky license plate 009 EDC.

Investigators don't know why the son cannot be located, and they are not sure if he took his parents' car. He is not considered a suspect at this time but police do have some questions for him.

"We do want to find him to talk to him," Reeves said. "We don't know the situation - if he's in this car or if the car is somewhere else."

KSP trooper Bruce Reeves says he believes the couple was murdered, but at this time police do not know how they died.

"They haven't determined that at this point in time," Reeves said.

One neighbor who woke up to find police vehicles outside were stunned.

"It's just really shocking to see this kind of thing happen in this area," said one man who lives near the murder scene.

If you've seen the Honda, you're asked to call Kentucky State Police at 270-766-5078.
