Kenton County grass fire rekindled; dozens of acres scorched

KENTON COUNTY, KY (FOX19) - A large grass fire in Kenton County rekindled Thursday afternoon, scorching 50 to 75 acres of land. Over 25 fire departments from six different counties were at the scene.

Fire departments from Grant, Pendleton, Boone, Kenton counties, and from the city of Cincinnati all responded to the 12000 block of Klein Road in Morning View. Two helicopters from the Kentucky National Guard in Frankfort were also dispatched, one to help put out the flames and one to observe.

The original fire in this area was believed to be put out two days ago. The fire has been rekindled due to the dry conditions in the area. So far, the National Weather Service has not put out a Red Flag Warning.

So far, there is only one house in the area that officials are worried about being affected by the fire, but that house has not been evacuated.
