WALNUT HILLS, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati Police have identified the two victims that were shot to death Saturday evening as James Reed, 40, and his 14-year-old son, Jarenta Reed.
Investigators said the victims were shot inside of a car off Lincoln Terrace near Rammelsburg Street around 9:30 p.m.
The two suspects reportedly got away on foot. When asked if the shooter or shooters were inside or outside of the car at the time of the gun was fired, Cincinnati Police said no comment.
One of the male victims was shot in the face, the other in the chest.
The Reed family is now mourning the loss of two family members.
"He was a teenager, an innocent teenager," said Sylvia Thomas, Jarenta's great-aunt. "You know just riding with his dad. You know many dads don't spend time with their son."
Marcus Allen says he was home nearby when it happened and heard what he thought were firecrackers. But when he went to get a closer look, he says he saw a parked car that was still running, and two dead bodies inside.
"I noticed the bullet hole in the windshield, and then I walked around to the side and that's when I seen him, and the I looked back at the young guy," said Allen.
Family members say James and Jarenta didn't live in Walnut Hills, and don't know why they were in the neighborhood.
