Body of missing western Ky. woman found

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The leader of a search team told volunteers that the body of a 19-year-old western Kentucky woman missing for nearly a month has been found.

Kentucky State Police were searching for Jodi Powers of Earlington after her family reported her missing on Aug. 30. Authorities did not release the location of the body.

The Messenger of Madisonville reports that Tim Miller, director of Texas Equusearch, an expert search team, told volunteers that her remains had been found Saturday.

The newspaper reports that volunteers had fanned out around Madisonville at 7 a.m. to look. The teen's mother, Belinda Powers, was in the room when Miller made the announcement and was visibly shaken. However, she said, "But at least she's home. No matter the outcome, we wanted her home."
