BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - A 2005 Sycamore High school graduate has been killed in Afghanistan.
The Blue Ash Police Department say they learned of Army Specialist Donald Scott Morrison's death over the weekend.
Scott Morrison had been in the army for two years, and his father, Don, is a Blue Ash firefighter. Scott worked for the city's parks and recreation department before joining the Army.
"When he enlisted, he enlisted to honor one of his friends that he lost in Afghanistan, as well," said Brian Kruse, a friend of Morrison's.
Flags were at half-staff Monday in Morrison's memory, and his friends and family were working to place yellow ribbons all over the city.
"He was a great guy," said Kruse. "A lot of energy, really respectful, really good person, someone you just liked to have around. His laugh was contagious. His smile was contagious."
The Department of Defense has not yet released information on Morrison's cause of death.
"He just felt like that's where he should be - serving his country," said Kruse. "He was proud of it."
