FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Two people are dead following an apparent murder-suicide in Fairfield Township.
On Monday morning, the Fairfield Township Police Department received notification by concerned family members that they had not heard from another family member for several days.
Officers responded to a home in the 6300 block of Georgetown Road and found a male and female dead in the bedroom, both with gunshot wounds. Investigators believe the husband, Dale Kramer, 58, shot and killed his wife, Melissa Kramer, 41, then shot himself.
Melissa Kramer had recently published a book The Inclines of Cincinnati, covering the history of hillside railways in the city of Cincinnati. She was a journalism major who graduated from the University of Cincinnati.
Family members told police that problems had recently surfaced between the couple. Police say they responded to the home in 2005 on a domestic dispute between the couple and Dale's ex-wife.
Police are not releasing any more information until they get autopsy results back from the Butler County Coroner's Office.
