WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - The superintendent of one of the Tri-State's largest school districts has announced his retirement.
Mike Taylor, superintendent of the Lakota School District, plans to retire in January of 2011.
"It's bittersweet but I'm ready," said Taylor. "This is a district that I have grown with over these 35 years and I love Lakota and the people here."
During Taylor's 35 years as an educator in the district, Lakota has grown from a district with six buildings and 4,500 students to one that has 22 buildings and more than 18,500 students.
The Lakota Board of Education will begin identifying the necessary steps for installing the seventh Lakota superintendent.
