COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A Colerain Township mother is behind bars after police say she beat a child several times with a belt and broom handle.

Stacey Thompkins, 38, is charged with one count of domestic violence.

Colerain officers responded to Mercy Mount Airy Hospital on a report of a juvenile with injuries. The juvenile told police that Thompkins had hit her 30 to 40 times with a belt, then another 10 times with a broom handle.

The victim suffered several contusions on her arm and a cut that required stitches. She said Thompkins was upset because the girl returned home late.

Another family member took the girl to the hospital, and 241-KIDS was contacted.
