Man injured in Ind. fire

GREENDALE, IN (FOX19) - A man was taken to the hospital after he was injured in a fire in Greendale.

Flames broke out around 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning at a home on Feller Avenue.

Police responded to the scene and attempted to rescue Hollis Biggs, who was trapped inside the home. However, the officers were forced away by the smoke and heat.

Fire crews arrived and were able to rescue Biggs from the home. He was taken to Greendale Park via ambulance, then to University Hospital via AirCare. He is listed in fair condition.

The fire was contained to the bedroom the man was in and was contained by 1:17 a.m.

The residence is owned by Carolyn Williams, of Greendale, and occupied by Biggs, his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.

The fire has been ruled accidental.
