CINCINNATI (FOX 19) - If you are looking to spruce up your wardrobe, but don't want to spend a fortune on Reds gear, shoppers say head to discount retailers.
"It is a bargain. This shirt is about 15 bucks, it is good quality and is nice," Matt DeRose says. He is shopping at Meijer for a National League Central Division championship shirt. For about 50 dollars you can get two T-shirts, baseball cap, beads and have change to spare.
DeRose says it is important for fans to have a place to turn that is less than the major sports brand apparel or pro shop prices. He says that merchandise is nice, but he likes to shop around before a purchase to find the best deal.
Meijer isn't the only place with division championship shirts, but it was one of the only places Thursday night. Target stores in the Cincinnati area were completely sold out of their version of the NLCD championship shirt. Managers say the store receives shipments every night and to check in the mornings to find the gear. The Target shirts sold out in one day.
As for Matt DeRose and his family, he was able to get the latest Reds fashion and still afford tickets to Thursday's game.
