Middletown officer injured during chase

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) - A Middletown officer was flown to the hospital after he was involved in a chase and struggle with a suspect.

Police say the Officer David Kirsch was behind two people who were involved in a disturbance on Tuesday evening. The driver, Brittany Winkler, saw the officer and waved to get his attention. The passenger, Anthony Stevens, knew he had a warrant out for his arrest, so he jumped out of vehicle and started running.

Officer Kirsch started chasing Stevens on foot and caught up to him on the overpass next to a 20-foot drop. There was a brief struggle, and both men fell and landed on the grass and concrete curb below.

Officer Kirsch was flown via Care Flight to Miami Valley Hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Stevens was taken to Atrium Hospital. He was wanted for a probation violation, and further charges are pending.
