CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office has announced indictments against three people who are accused of robbing casino winners.
Kenyatta Erkins, 35 and Ugbe Ojile, 34 are each charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery. They face up to 28 years in prison if convicted. In addition, Amy Hoover, 25, is facing one county of aggravated robbery. She faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
Prosecutor Joe Deters says the trio would go to local Indiana casinos and watch for people to win a lot of money. They would then follow the winners to their home or hotel room and rob them at gunpoint.
"These offenders were targeting vulnerable patrons who had won considerable sums of money," said Deters. "They put these victims in serious harms way."
The investigation began in February of 2010. Most of the aggravated robberies occurred in Hamilton County, and investigators believe the trio is responsible for as many as 26 armed robberies.
"These guys probably in the next 24 hours are going to make some life altering decisions, and one is weather or not they are going to cooperate with police. Or, they can spend the rest of their life in Lucasville," says Deters.
Police caught them after an undercover sting operation early Thursday morning.
Deters says additional charges are expected.
