Two more armed robberies in Butler County

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) - The America's Best Value Inn in Middletown is the latest victim of a string of robberies that have happened in Butler County. Police believe the same men are responsible for all of the robberies.

Monday night it was the BP Express in Middletown, early Tuesday morning it was the Waffle House in West Chester, and late Wednesday night two more businesses were robbed; the Franklin Drive- Thru and the America's Best Value Inn.

"I just couldn't believe it was happening. I have been here for about 14 years and we have never had any robberies," said Mike Patel, owner of America's Best Value Inn.

Patel said he was sitting on the couch in the lobby when a white man with long dark hair came in. Patel said the man first asked about rates on rooms, but the quickly demanded cash.

"I went around to the back of the desk to check him in," said Patel. "As soon as I came in front of the register he was pointing a gun right at me and said he wanted to have all the money right now."

The suspect took the whole money drawer. And even though Patel only saw one man he believes two were involved.

Patel said, "He was gone fairly quickly, so I am assuming it's a pretty good bet that there was somebody waiting on the north side of the building. I'm sure."

Police are urging anyone with information to call Middltetown, Franklin or West Chester police.
