HEBRON, KY (FOX19) - A Texas woman is behind bars and her two children were taken to the hospital after she crashed her car into a Boone County Sheriff's cruiser.
Police received a complaint about an impaired driver late Thursday night near the Carroll C. Crupper bridge. A deputy gave chase around 10:30 p.m., and the driver sped up and crossed the bridge into Indiana.
The driver then cut through the median and headed eastbound over the bridge and back into Kentucky. Officers used stop sticks around the six mile marker and flattened the tires. The driver continued to the 4.9 mile marker where she turned around again and rammed a sheriff's cruiser head on.
The driver has been identified as Vickie Santana, 34, of Austin, Texas. She was taken to Saint Elizabeth Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries, then sent to the Boone County Detention Center. She is charged with reckless driving, fleeing, five counts of wanton endangerment, two counts of assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
Her children, John Santana, 2, and Chris Santana, 8, were also taken to the hospital and are now in the care of Social Services.
