COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say a 4-year-old Ohio girl is in critical condition Saturday after a family friend gave her a drug that's commonly used to help recovering opiate addicts.
Columbus police say a woman from New York gave the little girl methadone late Thursday night to help her sleep.
Paramedics took the little girl to a hospital in Columbus Friday after someone reported that she wasn't breathing. Authorities haven't filed charges or arrested the family friend, who they say is cooperating.
Police are awaiting results from the little girl's toxicology test. Police say the family friend has a prescription for methadone.
