The Moeller Crusaders rallied from a 14-0 deficit on Friday night at Nippert Stadium to get pass the Elder Panthers with a 26-20 victory and to move to 2-0 in the GCL South.

Moeller (6-1, 2-0) got three touchdowns from junior Marty Madaris en route to victory. Madaris ran for 149 yards and two touchdowns on six carries and pulled in six catches and 93 more yards receiving. Junior Brian Burkhart added a 25-yard rushing touchdown and senior defensive end Jesse Hayes came up with three sacks in the win.

Elder (2-5, 0-2) got two touchdowns and 99 yards rushing on 29 carries from senior running back Ben Coffaro in the loss. With just nine games on the schedule, the defeat ensures Elder will finish the season with a losing record and out of the playoffs.

The Crusaders will attempt to wrap up the GCL South title as they head to Lancer Stadium next week for a showdown unbeaten LaSalle. Meanwhile, Elder welcomes Carmel Catholic (IL) to The Pit.
